The Spiral Cone Candle Holder

You know what it's like when the thoughts begin to spin. One worry pulls at another, and soon you're not thinking anymore, you're being thought. The chest tightens. The breath grows shallow. You try to stop the loop but can't find the switch. It feels like drowning in air.

You're not broken.

In old Norse understanding, the self wasn't one solid thing, it was assembled from different parts. The body, the breath, the mind, the memory. Each one could carry its own weather. When the hugr, the personality, the inner chatter, spun wild, it didn't mean you were wild. It meant one room in a larger house was storming.

That distance, from "I am anxious" to "my hugr is producing anxiety," changes everything. It's the difference between falling into the river and standing beside it, watching the water move.

But distance isn't easy to reach when you're in the spiral. You need something real to touch. Something that reminds you: there is an opening. There is a way out.

Why This Object Exists

My friend Ulrika and I wanted an anchor for this practice, a physical reminder you could hold when the dark thoughts catch you.

We shaped a candle holder like a cone. In older traditions, cone shapes were said to draw in what shouldn't stay, the spirits that pull you under. Whether or not you take that literally, the shape holds meaning. Sometimes you are the one caught in a cone of your own making. But a cone also has an opening at the top. Light is meant to rise. Smoke is meant to leave.

What You Receive

A forged iron and ceramic candle holder, designed for a simple ritual, when you need to ground. Light a candle. Pick up a pen. Write the thought down. 

The rest comes later, when the water has calmed.

This is built to outlast your storms. Some things should be here when you need them, year after year.

You won't be free from racing thoughts. Nobody is. But you can learn to stand on the bank. You can learn to watch them pass.
